“We are looking for a skilled and motivated massage therapist to join our small curated team of bodyworkers.

Our group is small, practicing in the Lake Merritt district of Oakland. It is an established practice of 10 years and the internal mission of the practice is to create a space for bodyworkers to enjoy the freedom and autonomy while having a community of supportive therapists. Therapists usually take home between $45-$55/hr + tip.

We offer an 8 week apprenticeship to help support newer massage therapists grow their practice and business skill sets, though participating in the apprenticeship is not required.

We also are focused on being a team as well as a supportive community for one another. We hold monthly gatherings to connect and problem solve for our practice and our clients. You can learn more about our practice through our website at www.strategicbodywork.com.

We are very intentional about who we bring in, as such it may involve multiple interviews to make sure everyone in the practice is aligned. We are looking for a therapist who is excited and ready to take on at least 12 hrs of bodywork a week.

Required qualifications:

  • You have great communication skills not only with clients but with colleagues as well.
  • You place a high value on integrity of character and professionalism.
  • You are motivated and self-driven with ample energy to grow your clientele.
  • You have Deep Tissue and Swedish modalities as a primary part of your training and practice and can provide firm pressure.
  • You have a strong desire to continue growing as a therapist.
  • You are ready and excited to do 12 or more hours of bodywork per week.
  • You are certified to practice massage in the state of California along with up to date massage insurance.
  • Have a desire to commit to this practice for 3 or more years.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience is a plus but not required.
  • You have training and confidence in additional modalities (including eastern) that compliment your experience with Swedish and Deep Tissue.
  • Pre and post natal massage.
  • You have completed the Covid vaccination process and intend to stay up to date on best Covid precautions.

Studio amenities:

  • A beautiful office on the second floor of a two-story building centrally located on Grand Ave. shared with mixed modality practitioners. They are separate from our business but we often share and refer clients.
  • 4 treatment rooms including one with Ashiatsu bars installed and two with electrically adjustable tables.
  • We provide sheets, heated table topper and lotion. Cups available to share if you provide cupping to your clients.
  • Spacious waiting room with well attended plants and lots of natural light.
  • One on-site parking spot for clients on a first come first serve basis.
  • Large and fully equipped breakroom.
  • Washer and dryer on site.
