MASSAGE INQUIRY: Massage referral for special needs client // {SF, CA}

“The San Francisco Public Guardian (SFPG) is the conservator of my client, who lives at Laguna Honda Hospital in San Francisco. He has cognitive and psychological disabilities, and he has progressive multiple sclerosis and severe spasticity/contractures which prevent him from using his arms. He uses a wheelchair and mostly prefers to stay in bed, and massage therapy was really helpful for his quality of life. SFPG contracted with a massage therapist who visited a few times per month for years, but she retired in 2021. Since the winter COVID surge ended, I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to find a therapist who can visit him at Laguna Honda Hospital. A massage therapist who works at the Ability Now Bay Area massage clinic for people with disabilities suggested that I contact McKinnon Body Therapy Center.”
